Service Experience Designer

About me

Greetings! I'm Daniela, the human behind @thedesigncall. I am Italian by birth but my mindset is a fusion of Northern European and Asian influences.Cultural diversity is my passion, and I thrive on unraveling complex intercultural challenges.I'm a systems thinker and a dedicated designer:
I delve into user research, decipher their behaviors, and streamline data to create smooth user journeys mainly for services and systems but also for products (websites and apps).
In my past I have worked with a One Health approach. Hence, my approach is user-centric but in my practice I extended it to encompass the environment and animals.

My Journey

I've worked as an international development specialist, with a strong focus on designing projects for communities.I've spent more than ten years in Asia, leading and creating projects for local and global NGOs, social businesses, and eventually the United Nations in countries like Cambodia, Thailand, and Myanmar. In my last assignments, I focused on communicating about health especially, how diseases like COVID-19 spread between animals and humans.

From Projects to UX/Service Design

In 2021, I made a bold career leap from international development to design. I learned about user experience and worked with clients such as BBC, Zalando, and ZopaAs much as I enjoyed UX, my journey had its share of twists and turns. Eventually, I unearthed my true passion for system thinking and service design which lead me to starting my IG channel.Through the @thedesigncall, I want to help people like me change to a design career, find what they're best at, and give useful advice about design. I'm open about my journey so that I can show that anyone can make changes and find their own way.

My MDP (Mixed Design Practice)

My practice is heavily influenced by Asian philosophy.I'm also trying to do more than just Scrum, Kanban, and Agile. I want to deal with new problems that come up in the middle of the process to find answers to important questions. This means I need to see the process (and tools) in a different way and work at a different speed, sometimes doing things and sometimes just observing things unfold.

Service and Community Design in Action - Thailand

On my @designcall account, I've documented two great projects in Bangkok using service design methodologies:- Hua Lampong Station: We looked at what the famous Hua Lampong Station should do next, especially because most train service moved to the new Bang Na station.- Charoen Krung: The Thailand Creative and Design Center (TCDC below) started this. It was the first time they used Service Design in Thailand. They want to make the Charoen Krung district a creative area for the future, working with the community to create things together.

If YOU follow ME

If you're interested in Service Design, I'll show you my everyday experiences through tips, methods, and helpful resources. If you like community projects and taking care of the environment, I'm thinking of looking into such initiatives all over the world, like I did in Bangkok.Think of this as me saying "hello". More coming on my website, thedesigncall.com.Keep watching!
